First Meeting in 2020 of TCMA-Working Committee on Environment

May 28, 2020: Members of Working Committee on Environment, Thai Cement Manufacturers Association (TCMA), in following of health and safety instruction due to COVID-19 pandemic joined force through online meeting to follow up environmental matters related to cement, including actions of cement industry on greenhouse gas emission reduction, based on Thailand Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) Roadmap. In this regard, the meeting welcomed Khun Somwung Sintumongkolchai, who will serve Chair of Working Committee on Environment.

February 24, 2020: In responding to the Mineral Act B.E. 2560 and Statement of Thai Cement Manufactures Association (TCMA) on the development of sustainable limestone quarries with good governance, the signing ceremony Memorandum of Understanding Partnership in the Development of Sustainable Limestone Quarries between The Siam Cement (Ta Luang) Co., Ltd. and Asia Cement PLC. has been organized with fully support of leading authorities concerned, namely Khun Siva Mahasandana-Chairman of TCMA, Dr. Sommai Techwan-Director-General of Department of Mineral Resources (DMR), Khun Wisanu Tabtieng-Director-General of Department of Primary Industries and Mines (DPIM), Dr. Raweewan Bhuridej-Secretary-General of Office of Natural Resources and Environmental Policy Planning (ONEP). The two companies, under the MoU will join force with government advice developing limestone quarries with environmentally friendly-so called ‘Green Mining’ in accordance with circular economy.

‘Go Green with Hydraulic Cement’ – Cement Industry Contribution to Goal 13 of Global Agenda-Climate Action

February 7, 2020: Members of Thai Cement Manufacturers Association (TCMA) and the representatives of Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning (DTP), Ministry of Interior observed strength testing of hydraulic cement, an environmentally friendly product with greenhouse gas emission reduction at the laboratory of Sirindhorn International Institute of Technology (SIIT). Balancing technical cooperation and policy coordination, TCMA is working with the relevant authorities concerned using hydraulic cement given the magnitude of achieving Thailand Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) Roadmap on Mitigation 2021 – 2030.

February 5, 2020: Khun Mongkon Ponchunchoovong, Member of Working Committee on Quarry and Mineral Resources, Thai Cement Manufacturers Association (TCMA) and Thailand Fellowship of Cement Manufacturers (TFCM) served as a representative of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) shared industry views on the revise version of Thailand Mineral Management Master Plan in the Sub-Committee Meeting on Mineral Management Master Plan, joint organized by Department of Mineral Resources (DMR), Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and Department of Primary Industries and Mines (DPIM), Ministry of Industry.
