TCMA Voices Industry Input on Low Carbon Cement Ecolabel

Khun Monwikan Kajohnboon, Secretary of Working Committee TCMA-Environment and Climate Action and Khun Phattharawan Sukkantharak, Executive Director of Thai Cement Manufacturers Association (TCMA), provided industry feedback on the draft study “Cement Emissions Benchmarking and the Development of Recommendations for a National Ecolabel for Low Carbon Cement in Thailand”, with aims to ensure alignment with industry practices and national priorities, while supporting the development of robust environmental performance benchmarks and an effective ecolabel framework for low carbon cement. This initiative is part of Thailand’s broader decarbonization effort in cement and concrete sectors, funded by Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) and implemented by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), in collaboration with Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO) and Energy Research and Development Institute–Nakornping, Chiang Mai University.

First Meeting of Working Committee TCMA on Mobile Carbon Capture Unit

Khun Surachai Vangrattanachai, Chair of Working Committee on Mobile Carbon Capture Unit, Thai Cement Manufacturers Association (TCMA), led the committee’s first meeting to build a shared understanding of the initiative and align on its strategic direction. The meeting focused on the concept and potential applications of mobile carbon capture technology as an enabling solution for industrial decarbonization, including exchanged of views on technical considerations, feasibility assessments, and multi-stakeholder partnerships to advance development and deployment. This collaborative effort marks an important step in strengthening innovation pathways under Thailand 2050 Net Zero Cement and Concrete Roadmap, supporting Thai cement industry’s transition toward scalable low-carbon technologies.

TCMA Engages in ETS Readiness Discussions for Thailand

Khun Chanadda Phongsai, member of the Working Committee on Innovation and Technology, Thai Cement Manufacturers Association (TCMA), participated in a focus group discussion on technology transition and readiness for Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV), a key enabler for Thailand’s future Emission Trading Scheme (ETS). The discussion is part of the Green Industry Transition (GIT) roadmap study supporting the development of Thailand’s ETS, led by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC), and organized under the Partnership for Action on Green Economy (PAGE) in collaboration with KPMG Thailand.

Industry Push for Revision of Thailand-Specific RDF Emission Factor

Khun Arnon Janyam, member of Working Committee TCMA on Sustainability, together with Khun Phattharawan Sukkantharak, Executive Director of Thai Cement Manufacturers Association (TCMA) and the team participated in a consultation with GIZ, the National Metal and Materials Technology Center (MTEC) and partners to discuss the revision of Thailand’s country-specific emission factor (EF) for Refuse-Derived Fuel (RDF), a key enabler for industrial decarbonization. Strengthening the robustness of this emission factor will support Thailand’s Net Zero pathway by enhancing the role of RDF as a viable fuel-switching option in the cement industry. It will also enable more effective policy design and accelerate the scaling of alternative fuels across the sector.
